Una delle critiche più severe che vengono mosse al Labrador a pelo lungo e che “Labrador” è univocamente sinonimo di cane a pelo corto. Altra e che questi cani siano frutto di accoppiamenti tra razze in quei decenni che anticipano la formazione del Kennel Club. In fine dicono che siano tipici soggetti da linee impure. 

I miei studi, che poi sono percorribili da altri in qualunque momento, dimostrano come il soggetto a pelo lungo fosse denominato Labrador, forse persino prima del cane a pelo corto, di come il soggetto a pelo lungo convivesse nella stessa zona geografica Canadese del cane a pelo corto e che avessero impieghi diversi.
